We have been learning the names of the different shapes and I thought of a fun activity that my son could do at home. We have a lot of shapes lying around from when my son was younger. I thought we could use these to do some shape prints with paint. It is a really quick activity to set up and my son loved it – he ended up with more shape prints on his body than the  paper in the end!

What I used:

Paint, from the Early Learning Centre at the Avenues

Paper, from Office Depot at the Avenues

Paper plates, from supermarket

Shapes, from a Shape Sorting Game from the Early Learning Centre, Salmiya

Messy Play Mat, from the Early Learning Centre, at the Avenues

Method:

Ask child what colours they would like to use and pour paint onto paper plates (saves washing up paint pots – they can go straight into the bin once finished).

Discuss the names of the different shapes with your child.

Show your child how to place the shape onto the paint and then print it onto the paper.
