I have had this activity in mind to do with O for a while as I remember doing it with my KG class last year during our Transport topic. They had so much fun; and I just knew that O would too and last week I finally got round to setting it up for him.
O had so much fun with this activity, not only because he loves his cars but he also loves getting messy with paint! As soon as I laid the big piece of paper onto the floor in his bedroom O was getting excited before I even brought in the cars and paint! We raced our different cars from one end of the paper to the other and O loved matching the different coloured cars to the same colour of paint and enjoyed making the coloured tracks to match the car colour. It was also fun to see the different types of tracks that the cars made depending on their size – we had thick and thin tracks and bumpy and smooth tracks.
What you need:
Big sheet of paper
Different coloured paints
Paper plates/trays (something to put in the paint on)
What we did:
Lay a big sheet of paper onto the floor or a large table
Put some paint onto trays/plates and place the cars out.
Dip the cars into the paint, trying to make sure all the cars wheels get some paint on
…and start having fun! Race the cars from end of the paper to the next and watch the coloured tracks appear from the paint or see the different types of tracks that different cars leaves (big, small, thick, thin, bumpy etc).
