Homemade Breadsticks – For Babies and Toddlers

Comment 1 Standard

breadsticksOver the past few weeks I have noticed that I have a big bread and carb fan in Millie. She loves bread, toast, pancakes, muffins…anything carb based! So this afternoon when preparing her and Oscar’s lunch I decided to try something new with a couple of pieces of bread. I had planned on giving them both some hummus with pita/Arabic bread for Oscar and toast fingers for Millie but I decided to make some homemade breadsticks with the bread for Millie instead. I was a bit unsure on how they would turn out, but they turned out such much nicer than I was expecting! They tasted a bit like fried bread minus the unhealthy greasiness! They literally took a minute to prepare so a perfect quick lunch with some dip like hummus or you could spread some cream cheese or vegetable spread on them. They are also delicious on there own too! These would be great as a snack to take on days out too! So simple, yet delicious! I think I may have to make some more tomorrow!

2 pieces of thick bread

Olive oil

  • Cut the bread into strips and drizzle with olive oil.
  • Cook at 180 degrees for 10-15 minutes then turn the breadsticks over and cook for a further 10 minutes until both sides are golden brown.

*We used 2 pieces of bread which made about 10 breadsticks but obviously it depends on how big your pieces of bread are and how thin/thick you cut your strips. The breadsticks can be stored in a tubberware box for a couple of days.
